The foot is the foundation.

Twenty-six bones, thirty-three joints, more than a hundred muscles, tendons, and ligaments — and every step you take, your whole body stands on it. Balance, posture, gait, the way your knees and hips and back feel at the end of a day: it all starts at the ground, with the foot. Strengthen the foundation and everything above it stacks straighter. Weaken it — or box it into the wrong shape for decades — and the body compensates all the way up the chain. That's why we build shoes from the foot up, and why foot health is the community we belong to.

People we learn from.

None of this thinking is ours alone. These are educators, clinicians, and reviewers whose work we follow and repost — all worth your time:

Built with.

Two names you'll find inside every pair we make:

Your foot is not a size. It's a shape.

Look at your bare foot. It's widest at the toes, not at the ball. The inside edge runs nearly straight from heel to big toe. No two feet — not even your own left and right — share the same geometry. That is the anatomical shape of a healthy foot, and it's the shape almost no shoe is actually built around.

Conventional shoes start from a factory last and ask your foot to adapt. Tapered toe boxes press your toes together, arches sit where the average foot needs them rather than where yours does, and sizes leap in half-centimetre jumps that assume one width fits everyone. Over years, that quiet mismatch is what discomfort is made of.

Why anatomical shape matters.

Your toes are designed to splay — that spread is how you balance, absorb impact, and push off with every step. Your arch is a living spring that loads and releases. When a shoe respects that anatomy, pressure spreads across the whole foot and everything works the way it evolved to.

When it doesn't, the effects add up. Narrow, tapered toe boxes are associated with bunions, corns, and overlapping toes; arch support in the wrong place with tired, aching feet at the end of an ordinary day. None of that is your foot's fault. It's the shoe's.

Built from your anatomy, not near it.

Every cobbler.fit pair begins with a 3D scan of your feet, powered by Volumental — the foot-scanning technology trusted by footwear specialists around the world. Using just your phone, it captures the true geometry of each foot: length, width, instep height, heel width, and arch — left and right, measured individually.

From that scan we shape your last, the physical form your shoe is built around. The toe box follows your toes' actual splay. The arch sits where your arch is. If your left and right feet differ — and they almost always do — each shoe is built to its own foot.

Handcrafted in Portugal.

Anatomy decides the shape; Portugal decides the make. Our atelier works with craftspeople from a centuries-old shoemaking tradition, using leathers chosen to breathe, flex, and soften around your foot rather than force it into line. Precision technology finds your shape — human hands honour it.

Healthy feet aren't a feature we added. They're the whole point.
